I have been really lucky and excited to be working on commissions lately. There is something really cool about working on bringing to life someone else's idea or creating art for someone else's home. I also feel just over joyed at how much people are liking what I am doing and responding to it - I still have so much to learn but it's all encouraging. Yes, ok I am rambling now... just feeling the love <3

I suddenly have an awful lot going on but it's all exciting. Something really exciting for me was having two pop art painting commissions which is an honour and they're also really good fun because they're bright and they're of an adorable dog. I don't have any pictures at the moment but once they're both done and the buyer is happy I can hopefully get some pictures up here for you. Really into the whole pop-art-y-thing at the moment - it is detailed but in a different way from the water colours, it's nice working in shapes and a limited palette. I do want to get back into a more diverse range of art styles once I have some more time again.

In a good mood today - wanted to do a pop art style picture and after a bit of online research and some googling I settled down with a pic of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and got colouring. It was really fun playing with ideas of light and shadow and negative space - how much detail do you need to indicate objects and features without painting everything. I started by doing a highlight trace on the photo - outlining the highest value points only and then transferred this onto my acrylic paper then blacked in the rest.
